I have a voracious need to learn and I love to help people. An appreciation of libraries and the power behind them was instilled on me at a very young age and it has stuck with me throughout my life. My clear enthusiasm at the library where I work has provided me opportunities to help with a number of youth programs, my favorite being an after-hours Harry Potter party which turned out to be an enormous success. Beyond my normal work duties, I am among a group of readers who help narrow down a list for the annual state children’s book award, and have been asked to advise for reader recommendations on several occasions.

In 2010 I spearheaded a highly successful online event where fictional characters battled each other called the YA  Fantasy Showdown. Within the two-week tournament, it received over 200,000 hits, showing I know how to be innovative and take initiative in moving in new directions that will appeal to readers as well as working within groups. I am self-motivated, dedicated, curious, and passionate. This career is the foundation and love of my life, and there is nothing else I would rather be doing.
